Iris is truly an enigma, whist The Doctors disappearance was noticed, Iris has escaped all detection of her leaving from the time lords. There are two reasons
for this firstly, although a time-lord herself, she appears to have come from a very much lower class than the Doctor and as a consequence she wasn`t important
enough to notice and secondly she claims to have wiped all records of her existence before she left her home world. Her escape was facilitated by her discovery
outside the Capitol of an experimental TARDIS that was rejected and found " dying "after a crash, Iris was able to repair/heal this time ship,
salvaging working parts which, like the DOCTORS TARDIS is stuck in one form , that of a London routemaster Bus ( the No. 22 to Putney Common. ) It is stuck in
this form because a routemaster bus was deposited in a time storm at the same time And Iris used this as its template .And unlike the Doctors timeship it has
no chameleon circuit and Iris seems in no hurry to acquire one. Also unlike the Doctors ship, it is not dimensionally transcendental so it is smaller on the
inside than it is on the out. Its internal configuration restricted to it`s Routemaster form, a double decker bus with seats and a cocktail bar on the lower
floor, shower / w/c and beds on the upper deck. It remains constantly supplied with clean water, air and livable environment. The TARDIS controls are concealed
beneath the floorboards of the lower deck and only this section of the craft is dimensionally transcendental.Because of this and her ships more limited
resources, she tends to own numerous properties though out civilized planets histories that she can de-camp to and have a proper bath in. However like all
TARDIS it is almost totally invulnerable to outside attack. It is capable of rendering itself invisable. She controls it by "stearing" it in the
drivers cabin. Iris considers herself the Doctors unofficial biographer... however her method of recording the Doctors adventures appears to be to find out
what he has done and copy it ! She pursues the Doctor almost relentlessly in a romantic way ( much to his chagrin )as well claiming to " have had `im
!" But declining to elaborate further... she finds all but one of the Doctors physical appearance attractive save his sixth... However, her copying of the
Doctors life was so extreme that in her last regeneration she too acquired a Valyard by the name of Bianca, who assumed the identity of a nightclub owner and
torch singer in order to lure a previous incarnation to her destruction. * Additional info... Is Iris a Time Lady (and does it really matter) ? According to
both the third Doctor and Iris herself, she is a Gallifreyan, but not originally a Time Lady, coming as she apparently does from outwith the Time Lord elite
(Verdigris), although she claims in Scarlet Empress to have been raised by a House of Aunts in the mountains of Gallifrey. Her Mancunian accent and frequent
appearances on Earth do seem to suggest that - like her friend, the Doctor - she has some fondness for that planet. She has the ability to regenerate which
suggests that she must become a Time Lady (or at least gained the Rassilon Imprimatur) at some point - possibly due to her interaction with her TARDIS. The
worm factions from The Wormery refer to her as 'Time Lady' (as does Paul Magrs in a de*****ive passage of "Old Flames" . The Sixth Doctor
claims that neither he nor the Time Lords know anything about her - because she has scrubbed all her records, Iris replies. (The Wormery). Iris is one of the
four possible Time Lords to survive of the annihilation of Gallifrey in The Ancestor Cell, although given her ability to hop across Gallifreyan time lines she
knows about - and experiences - the Gallifrey-free universe before anyone else..
